YOUNG PEOPLE NEED REAL JOBS, DIGNITY & SELF-RESPECT

Jim Playsted, Beacon Director

jim playsted

Jim Playsted has worked in the construction equipment industry in a diversity of roles including salesman, branch manager, parts & service manager and national GM Sales & Marketing. With particular skills in sales, marketing and team development - throughout his 30 year career in Tasmania, NSW and Victoria, Jim took a keen interest in careful selection, nurture and promotion of fellow employees, having had the good fortune to enjoy a similar career development and mentor program as a young person himself.

He became involved with Beacon in Tasmania in 1995 and was chairman for 1996/97 before moving interstate. Located first in Melbourne and then Sydney, he remained a 'friend of Beacon' and was influential in the 2001 formation of strategy, promotion and sponsorship for the successful national replication of Beacon programmes.

In January 2001 Jim rejoined the now national Beacon board with a particular interest in feedback to and development of sponsor networks.
