The AMP Foundation is one of the vehicles through which AMP invests in the community. It was set up in 1992 to make a difference in the Australian community, especially at a grassroots level where our people live and work. The AMP Foundation invests in two areas – Community Involvement and Capacity Building with a focus on youth employment. Why support Beacon? The AMP Foundation has been a supporter of Beacon since 2002. It became involved with Beacon because of the successful “No Dole” program, which helps thousands of young people make the right choice when it comes to education, training and work. The model for ‘No Dole” is a very good one in that schools have to take ownership of the program and work with the local community, parents and business to provide better outcomes for students. Beacon’s work is very much aligned to one of the Foundation’s key investment areas, which is capacity building with a focus on youth employment. How does AMP Foundation help? The AMP Foundation provides monetary support to Beacon – close to half a million dollars a year to support its infrastructure as well as the successful No Dole program. Additionally senior AMP employees mentor key Beacon employees, thus strengthening the ties between the organisations even more. What are the benefits of being involved? It’s been extremely rewarding to see the growth of Beacon over the years. When the AMP Foundation first began supporting Beacon, the “No Dole” program ran in eight high schools. Today it’s been rolled out in over 80 high schools with more schools predicted to join. The results Beacon has achieved through “No Dole” have been outstanding, with close to 100% of students staying at school or going on to find work it’s an excellent outcome for young people. |
