YOUNG PEOPLE NEED REAL JOBS, DIGNITY & SELF-RESPECT

The Beacon No Dole Program

The Beacon No Dole program aims to address the issue of youth unemployment and familial welfare dependence, as well as improve the school to work transition.  The program started in a Tasmanian High School in 1995 out of a concern young people were leaving school without any real purpose or idea about their future career path.  The program is now being run in almost 100 schools in all Australian states and territories.  Through the program students, parents and teachers gain greater understanding and confidence about all the options post compulsory schooling, whether it be further education, training or employment.
