New South Wales and ACT Beacon team

Rosemary Conn - NSW & ACT Manager

Rosemary Conn joined Beacon in July 2008 as NSW / ACT State Manager.

She has a Masters in International Business and French and started her career working for a publishing company specialising in travel literature. Rosemary has since worked as a management consultant for Deloitte, undertaking a range of strategy, operations and change management projects in a variety of industries.

Rosemary was drawn to working for Beacon because of its innovative and dynamic culture, and is passionate about giving young people as many opportunities as possible.

Rosemary loves travel and previous volunteering work has taken her to Namibia, Ecuador and Belize. Rosemary enjoys all outdoor activities and is still making the most of living in sunny Sydney, having moved there from the UK in 2006.

Dyan Thais - NSW Coordinator

Dyan Thais commenced work with Beacon in July 2008 after spending the previous nine years as an Industry, Education Liaison Officer for Tomaree High School and St Philips Christian College in Salamander Bay, Port Stephens NSW. During this period Dyan’s role was to liaise with the local business community, coordinate all work placement, work experience, school-based traineeships and apprenticeships for the students in the two schools. In 2003 Tomaree High School became a Beacon school with the commencement of its Port Stephens Real Futures program under the No Dole banner.

Dyan has two daughters and one son who have all experienced the uncertainty and anxiety about their future that all young people feel. Helping her kids and others to find a positive pathway to their future is what keeps Dyan motivated and focused.

Jennifer Reilly - NSW & ACT Coordinator

Jennifer joined Beacon in April 2009, based in the Illawarra region. Jennifer holds an undergraduate Degree in Education, teaching in Primary Schools around the Wollongong region. For the past six years she worked in the community sector as a team leader for the Learning for Life program with The Smith Family; in this role she supported disadvantaged students in the region, often working alongside Beacon programs in local schools. Jennifer is currently studying for her psychology degree by distance.

With the region facing chronically high youth unemployment, Jennifer is looking forward to the challenge of supporting students to reach their full potential and create brighter futures through education, training and job opportunities. As a proud girl from the ‘Gong’ she also plans to strengthen local business and industry networks with Beacon schools.

Jennifer has two daughters and a son, all adults pursuing their varying careers and education and along with her husband Chris, enjoys a busy family life and an extended family network. A healthy work/life balance is important to Jennifer with relaxing camping and boating trips on the South Coast, along with country drives, time at the beach, walking and gardening. Jennifer and Chris love travelling and visiting family and friends locally and overseas.

Ebeny has been heavily involved in the design and implementation of an evaluation framework for Beacon's No Dole program. The new evaluation framework has been created in conjunction with Social Ventures Australia and is at the forefront of evaluation in the non profit sector.
