Ian Freer, Beacon Representative (Victoria)

Ian is the Victorian Representative for the Beacon Foundation, identifying new projects and advising government and corporate leaders on Beacon’s work.

He is a retired British Army officer who was married in Melbourne in 1970 and settled there in 1996. He was the General Officer Commanding the British 5th Division and Commander Land Forces in Northern Ireland. He is a Director and Principal Consultant with Risk Resource Pty Ltd, advising clients on governance, risk management and security.

He has introduced risk management into several schools and colleges, and is the Deputy Chair of Woodleigh School. Separately, he provides startegic advice and support for companies supplying the Department of Defence.

His interests include: Vice President RUSI Victoria, Deputy Chair Woodleigh School, Beacon Foundation, Pacific Institute, Sailing.
