YOUNG PEOPLE NEED REAL JOBS, DIGNITY & SELF-RESPECT

Susan Lees, WA State Manager

Susan joined the Beacon Foundation as the WA and NT State Coordinator at the end of 2007. Prior to working for Beacon she was the Student Services and No Dole Coordinator at Bullsbrook DHS, a school on the rural fringe of Perth.

Susan relishes working with students, helping them find a viable pathway through life which meets their wants and needs whilst also fitting in with the needs of the wider community.

Susan has been a teacher in country WA, Perth and England; she has also been involved on the Board of Midland Joblink for almost ten years.  She states that her most enjoyable position was when she was the Careers Coordinator of a school working with the local business community to find structured work placements for year 11 and 12 students and develop in-school programs to meet the needs of the local employers, the students and the school.

Susan has been married to her husband Stephen for many years and has two adult children – Tamara who is training to become a photographer and Andrew who is working through his Architecture degree.
