Val Young, Queensland Manager

Val commenced employment with the Beacon Foundation in May 2006 as Queensland Coordinator.

She has a bachelor of Applied Science and a Diploma in Education. Her experience ranges from working as a research scientist, to being a secondary math's science teacher, and more recently establishing and running her own tourism business for 7 years.

On learning of Beacon, Val was immediately very enthusiastic about the idea of getting involved and building further relationships amongst businesses, community and schools. She is very encouraged and inspired by the response from Queensland businesses, and looks forward to the challenges of making a difference to the future of our young people.

Val lives north of Brisbane, and is married with two children - Georgia and Lachlan. They all love traveling, the beach, snorkeling and boating - especially going to Moreton Island.
