Victorian & South Australian team
Anthony Garnham - Victorian & South Australia Manager
Over the past 20 years Anthony has had a successful business career in a variety of roles and industries, working with Ernst & Young, PBL Ltd, PPB and his family’s manufacturing business, Jardan Australia Pty Ltd.
Anthony has always enjoyed working with people to achieve positive results and is excited by his role and the opportunity with Beacon.
In his leisure time Anthony enjoys playing sport, reading and spending time with his wife Lisa and two daughters, Jess and Issy.
Annette Torok - Victorian Coordinator
Annette commenced employment with the Beacon Foundation in March 2007 as a Victorian Coordinator and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Diploma in Education.
Working within a school environment enabled Annette to achieve a greater understanding of the needs of young people. Being part of an energetic team and developing strategies to promote greater success for young people is Annette’s personal objective.
Outside work, Annette enjoys socialising, cooking, travelling and snow boarding.
Ben Cooper - Victorian/SA Coordinator
Ben Cooper has returned to Beacon a second time as a Victorian/South Australian Coordinator.
Previously Ben worked with Beacon in a national project development role. He has had a number of years working in community development for local government as well as music retail management for Sanity Australia. More recently Ben spent three years as an account manager for media organisation Southern Cross Television.
Ben is a part time professional musician and is passionate about music composition, surfing, cycling and fitness training.
Jo Breen - NE Victorian Manager
Jo started with Beacon in February 2009 after a 24 year career in the media, and has recently moved into the role of communications manager for Beacon. Jo will combine this role with management of the growth of Beacon schools in the north east.
A long time Goulburn Valley resident, Jo is based in Shepparton, Victoria and is passionate about the region, its future and engaging young people in making a meaningful contribution to their own lives and to the community.
Jo was the first female editor of the Shepparton News, and during her time with the paper garnered a deep knowledge and love for the Goulburn Valley, its people and the wonderful lifestyle the region offers her young family. Married to Rod, with three daughters, Abbey, Molly and Grace, Jo spends most weekends following the girls with their sport. She is involved in many community and sporting groups in Kyabram where she lives, and loves the company of family and friends.
Susan Wearden - NE Victorian Coordinator
Susan commenced with Beacon in August 2009.
Originally a nurse, Susan spent the last seven years working in the dairy industry as office manager for industry based Murray Dairy.
Working with a wonderful team at Beacon has been her highlight so far and she is now looking forward to the opportunity to achieve some great outcomes with her schools in the coming year.
Susan and her husband Peter run a dairy farm near Kyabram, where together with their four children, Damien, Meg, Bernie and Patrick they have always enjoyed a large network of family and friends.
Susan enjoys reading, cooking, socialising and most things outdoors, including cycling in the Great Victorian bike rides. Her next ambition is to do the Cradle Mountain walk in Tasmania.
